• 8/24/4: Butkiewicz learns baseball Alaskan style - "If his name had been called, the right-hander never would have made history in the prestigious Alaska Baseball League. He never would have learned the lessons that are apt to serve him so much better when his time to vie with professionals arrives. "I’m going to soak in everything I learned this summer," Butkiewicz said. "I’m going to try and write down everything I picked up so when I start working out again I’ll have it in memory. When next season comes, it’s not going to matter who the batter is and what bat he’s using."

• 5/11/4: Wizards' outfielder Wahlbrink sets pace "Wahlbrink also enjoyed the 60-degree weather, learning how to fish for king salmon. "I caught a couple 30-pound king salmon. I'm not a fisherman, so that was an absolutely wonderful experience for me," Wahlbrink said. "Just the terrain, it's just amazing terrain. There's snow on top of every mountain. There's moose on the highway just walking around.  "It's like a completely different lifestyle."
